During constructions GGV Developments Ltd entered into a contract with Hensall for our mechanical expertise and vast experience of the leisure sector.
This Mechanical services project comprised of the creation of a casino within the landlords existing shell and core building, services included:
Project management, BIM working drawings, Site setup, VRF air conditioning, 6 No. air source heat pump units, LTHW heating systems to serve the AHU pre-heating coil, VAV box re-heater batteries, Radiators, Door curtains and hot water calorifiers, 4 No. air cooled packaged liquid chiller units, Air blast chiller unit to serve the water coded condenser units, Plant room pods located at roof level, Installation of supply and extract ventilation to serve the main casino floor and the mezz floor areas, Dedicated kitchen extract vent systems including electrostatic air cleaners and UV units, Hot and cold water distribution, Above ground drainage, A sophisticated Automatic Controls system with Co2 detection and energy management, BREEAM energy metering and monitoring.

A wide range of our mechanical services were required in order to complete this extensive project for which we were involved from design phase through to completion. All ventilation, heating and extraction systems were installed throughout various phases, as well as hot and cold water distribution systems. Finally, we installed sophisticated automatic control systems that would detect Co2 and intelligently monitor and manage the buildings energy needs.
On this occasion we were met with a number of challenges due to the location of the casino in the city centre at the top of the Victoria Gate shopping centre. This meant that we were required to use cranes in order to gain access to the roof before we could complete the project. As project managers we were also faced with a number of coordination issues so as to work in tandem with the other aspects of the casino’s fit out.
Despite these challenges we were able to complete the project within the allotted time frame and within budget. The casino was completed on time and to specification and looked fantastic. Not only that, but it was sustainable and environmentally friendly, especially when combined with the BREEAM energy metering and monitoring that we installed to ensure the greenest possible outcomes.
