Hensall’s involvement in the project saw a complete lighting installation to the new building, which also included specialist theatre and effects equipment, alongside essential emergency lighting. Security and safety concerns were addressed with the installation of fire and security alarms, as well as CCTV.

The mechanical works included all heating, ventilation and noise attenuation installations, which included technical floor ventilation and AC cooling. In addition, low noise chillers were installed with chilled water distribution alongside hot and cold water distribution and above ground drainage.

The project proved especially challenging due to the requirement for the most complex wiring and containment system Hensall has ever designed and installed. Due to the nature of the building and its use as a performing arts centre, acoustic requirements were a top concern, making it essential that each element of the work had a separate containment system to avoid interference during performances in the theatre. Though a time consuming and sensitive project, the end result was a top quality installation gaining accolades from all stakeholders.
